The Power and Importance of One Accord

Lessons Learned Regarding The Fiery Furnace

In the story about Shadrach , Mishach and Abinego as the ” heat was being turned so high that even the guards who were in the process of throwing these Hebrew boys into the furnace because of their stance and convictions were burned to a crisp as they APPROACHED the furnace- that’s how hot / intense the heat w/in the furnace was. However, they (the Hebrew boys) were eventually thrown into the furnace, the Bible says that as they were walking around the fire, when King Nebuchadnezzar actually peered into the furnace that he saw a fourth guy that was like the image of the Son of God w/them in the furnace.
A few weeks ago I was in the midst at Chrenshaw Center East- the speaker of the hour made a reference regarding my situation that I believed echoes the sentiment of many others like him. He stated  “that I was able to be strong as long as everything was going well- but the moment the heat got hot I backed away”.
That one statement has been nagging away at me intermittently ever since. I have been asking the Lord for permission to respond ever since and I kept being impressed with His response to wait. Well praise Jesus- He just gave me the flag to respond , but only AFTER He ministered to me first.
First of all, I am so tired of the elephant in the room ( passive/aggressive song and dance-aka phony) game that I have played along with all these years. I am prayerfully coming to terms and accepting the fact that nothing pertaining to me and/or my life is sacred and that I am on display hopefully for God’s splendor. So having said that- can we please, please be mature and let’s call what it is and begin to have open, honest conversations with each other in love? In the words of Rodney King ( rest his soul) “Can we all just get along?” Jesus- there’s simply too much work to do!
So the situation that this speaker was referencing was a personal situation that I have been battling alone  by the grace of God regarding invasion of my privacy. I will the save my thoughts regarding the many factors and details regarding this whole situation – the fact that people ( supposedly Godly people at that) feel justified to peep into my life on a daily basis and run commentary on my life vicariously rather than having the courage to speak/ deal with me directly, open and honestly in love; and/or to have the discipline to seek God personally regarding me/my situation. Like I said- we can save that for another day and time.
However, what I gleaned from this particular situation was this is- as I have been reflecting on this particular situation and the particular day when I was told that I had to move out my apartment. Regardless of the imminent danger that I may have and/or may not have been facing- I had peace as it pertains to MY PERSONAL safety. However, when the the safety of my mom and my mover was presented later that afternoon as we were in the process of heading to clear things out of the apartment, I recall my sentiment within myself being ” it’s one thing for me put myself in danger, but another thing to put others in danger as well.” That’s the real reason I cancelled the move that day.
In the days following, hindsight kicked as it always does and I remember kicking myself then and until very recently for not mustering enough faith for the three of us to the point that I could declare ” fear not- our God will avenge us”

–Isaiah 35:4

Say to those who are fearful-hearted,

“Be strong, do not fear!

Behold, your God will come with vengeance,

With the recompense of God;

He will come and save you.”
It had gotten to point that it was difficult for me to forgive not only myself for not being able to override the fears of the two other people involved , it was also becoming more and more difficult to not hold any resentment for their lack of courage and easily love them unconditionally .
However, this morning in prayer- the Lord bought the whole thing back up- including the statement that made by the minister at Chrenshaw Christian Center East. He ( God) made the simple point very clear- the three Hebrew boys were all on one accord!

They were on one accord when they decided to refuse the delicacies of the king’s table and decided to go on what term today as ” the Daniel’s Fast”, they were on one accord regarding their convictions of not having nor worshipping any false idols- which is what landed them to the point that they were about to be thrown into the fiery furnace. And even though they were actually thrown into the fiery furnace, I firmly believe that the fact that they remained on one accord regarding their convictions. Therefore,  Jesus ( the fourth man ) not only joined them, however they all ( the boys being and joined by Jesus ) caused the king to sincerely repent from his sins ( false worship being one of them) and made a proclamation that his contingents ( the nation) were to worship the God of Shadrach, Mishach and Abinego.

I love my mom very dearly and I know deep down she loves me as well; however, the three of us ( her, myself and my mover) were not on one accord that day because of our respective journeys. I believe that’s the reason that God put it on my heart to walk away from the apartment and my possessions ( however limited- they were precious to me and held sentimental value), besides the fact that He was also in the process of doing ” a new thing” in my life. That’s why I firmly believe that true Agape love is very important.

The kind of love that not only is patient and kind, however it also bears ALL things, believes ALL things, HOPES ALL THINGS and ENDURES ALL THINGS! This is the Agape love that takes real strength and courage ( that one can only gain by spending time in His presence on a daily!). This is the love that I believe that God would have us to express to each on a daily basis because it is so crucial, vital to getting ALL believers to a point where we are ALL ONE ACCORD!
Being on one accord is what rescued the three Hebrew boys, got the nation to worship God ( which I also believe God desires to do here in the US and then w/ in the Body of Christ abroad); however being on one accord also got Paul and Silas out of jail!

Acts 1:12-14

The Upper Room Prayer Meeting

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey. And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

The POWER of Agape Love and One Accord will deliver us individually and collectively as One Body of Christ as well! 😘

Religion, American Justice , Politics and the KKK

Has the KKK not only infiltrated “ the white evangelicals” in America – but also the police departments and the American justice system as s whole?

This really shouldn’t come as news to anyone. I mean- if someone as naive as myself has their suspicions – then I am quite sure that others most likely have the same suspicions. I hear and see others tip toeing around the issue but no one is really calling it out. God Himselfs ordains that those things that are done in the dark must come to light. Luke 8:17For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.

I believe the reason that God Himself believes it’s time to bring what we already know deep down to the forefront because addressing this issue head on is crucial for real healing to begin.

While viewing “ A Time to Kill” the other week my theory of their (KKK) infiltration w/in the police departments was reinforced and furthermore after conducting some research. ( see below)

However, I also remember them ( the characters depicted as members of the national chapter of the Klu Klux Klan) referring to themselves as “ God-fearing men”. So it also brings me continue to ponder on the relationship and correlation between the Klu Klux Klan, “ white evangelicals” and the American political scene.

One question that I have been asking all along whenever we heard various ” dog whistle” terms such as ” white evangelicals”, and ” Americans ” ( to name just a couple) – why is there a dinstinction between ” white evangelicals” and other God fearing individuals like myself who consider themselves as ” evangelicals” ? What happened to- Ephesians 4:4-6  There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
I was deeply hurt the first couple of times that I heard this term. I experienced hurtful experiences within church services; small and large churches, confusing at the time, because in my naïveté I actually thought we ALL worshipped the same God the same way- not based on outward appearances (i.e. the color of my skin, nor my walk and station in life).  1 Samuel 16:7But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” ( by the grace of God I got over it and began to see it for what it really was).

So I can’t help but empathize with other American citizens, from various ethnicities and faiths ( including Latinos and Muslims who have sacrificed for the various liberties that are SUPPOSED to be afforded to every American Citizen) whenever the other dog whistle term ” American” was used as another form of dinstinction.

During my research I came across this following statement within a Miami Herald article that was written about the Klan in 1922- “Especially fascinating was the naturalization ritual in which a mass of white-robed men swore loyalty to their nation and to Christianity”(see below).  Hmm, which leads me to my other question- what is the origin of this false sense of superiority? Was it birthed somewhere between their transit on the Mayflower and The Boston Tea Party? Is it overcompensation for the treatment they received as being servants themselves before their transit? Unresolved issues perhaps? Just a few questions that I’m pondering…

Here’s another interesting quote-

“In 1922, the Federal Council of Churches recorded its conviction that the rise of secret organizations “whose activities have the effect of arousing religious prejudice and racial consequences [is] fraught with grave consequences to church and society at large.”5 The resolution was aimed directly at the Klan and church members who joined the order. Yet despite the Council’s condemnation of the order, local churches continued to affiliate with the fraternity”… sound familiar? This was taking place 1922, fast forward to 2016- hmm.. ” white evangelicals” who have publicly endorsed a certain candidate ( heck I’ll say it-  Donald Trump) who not only spews off racist remarks on a regular basis , however he also has ties with KKK leaders who have also announced their candidacy for public office.

However, there is one big difference between 1922 and present day- people stood up to denounce the Klan then; especially their religion affiliation; – “Anti-Klan lecturer and author W.C. Witcher denounced the Klan’s claims to 100% Americanism, Christianity and lawfulness.” A former Klansman Henry Fry also denounced the Klan back then – and declared ” their brand of Christianity to be false and blasphemous”.  This particular article went onto state that-  “Witcher and Fry were examples of Protestant Christians who denounced the order for religious reasons, but African Americans, Catholics, Jews, politicians (at local and national levels), Congress, businessmen, editors and many others also reviled the order for its aggressive stance on race and nation.”

So my final question for the time being is this- where are the denouncers today?

It brings me to my firm belief that healing has to begin in the church ( within the Body of Christ) first before it can take place in the nation and abroad.

2 Chronicles 7:14-15

if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. * wicked ways- racism, killing, stealing, destroying, lying, deceiving, manipulation ( right up there with sexual immorality )- just saying…

May the God of all Grace continue to lead and guide us all into ALL truth…

John 16:13

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

May God Bless America!🇱🇷

L”From the Sanctuary to the Streets-from the Streets to the Sanctuary”

I know that I am late regarding this story ( see below); however I recently came across this story and how it all unfolded; just wanted to glean the real message here.

This story is very powerful and it hits me at the center of my core- it epitomizes what is necessary for the healing our nation to begin.

It begins with PFK Boom who is a community activist in Baltimore (who has been active in the protests regarding Tyrone West who died while in police custody) calling out Pastor Bryant (who had been active in the Baltimore community in the past) as selling out. Pastor Bryant later posted a response. That’s usually where the story ends as it pertains to the “faith community ” interacting with ” the community” and a dispute arises. That gives the ” faith community” the opportunity to throw up their hands and say ” we tried” and that’s it. However, this is different…

…everyone has been talking about ” coming to the table”. That’s it- simply talking- however, these men not only came to the table, but they reconciled , collaborated and hosted a community event on July 4th. Here you have various members of different faiths mixing it up with active community leaders working together because they took ownership of their respective responsibilities. They worked through their differences at the table rather than wait for people that they had long ago stopped waiting  for – elected officials and such to embrace their responsibities to the people who had one time trusted them to supply resolutions.

Hopefully this is not an isolated occurrence of -the sanctuary coming to the streets  and the streets coming to the sanctuary. I firmly believe that  this is the best demonstration of the ” Great Commision” and unity in the community .

There are always so many opportunities to demonstrate this type of collaboration between the ” faith community” and ” the community”. Please pray ask God for the insight and the grace to do your part- utilize your gift(s). To whom much has been given , much is required”. Luke 12:48 But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

2 Chronicles 7:14-15

if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.

Matthew 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

” How can I teach you if I can’t reach you?”

I say that I’ve been stumbling onto  some stuff lately; however in all honestly I know that’s it’s the hand of God  ordering my steps and guiding me. This is another one of those times!

Having said that – although this video with Tyrese slamming Pastor Jamal Bryant came out a few months ago, we know God to be an ” on time God”.  Therefore, the fact that Tyrese felt so strongly about Pastor Bryant’s comments that he made in reference to Tyrese posing a question pertaining to the direction of gospel music based on his favorite group at the time ( hopefully still his favorite- the group -KlarKent-is talented/gifted- I can see why he likes them so much). The underlying arrogant tone that I believe was a factor regarding his comment is also a major factor in why I also believe that a lot of people are often wounded by church folks in general and therefore turned off from God because of the mispresentation by the ” people of God”.

I can go on regarding that topic alone; however I believe the real message here comes in one of the profound comments  (there’s a few ) that Tyrese makes in this video.
” I strongly recommend to every man/ woman of God- get out of the comfortability of simply going to church and get out here in these streets. How can I teach you if I can’t reach you?”

That touches the core of my heart’s desires. It’s not easy for me to step out my comfort zone in an effort to reach and connect with people – a lot of them hurting, frustrated , confused, disenfranchised and so forth. However, I am choosing more and more to reach deep down and rely on the grace of God to assist me in being a yielded vessel – not perfect but available for His use! I definetly must decrease on a daily basis so that the Christ in me may increase.

It is my prayer that you pray for the grace of God to allow you step out of your comfort zone in order to reach the lost and to avail yourselves for God’s use however He wills.

” The Great Commision is for every believer.” If you have already believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth the Lord Jesus , then regardless of your stage/walk in life this commission is for you.

Ephesians 2:8-10

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Romans 10:8-12

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

Matthew 28:18
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

God’s view Concerning the Poor

Hmmm Interesting!
Just happened to stumble on this and wanted to share….

Leviticus 25:35

Lending to the Poor

“If one of your brethren becomes poor, and falls into poverty among you, then you shall help him, like a stranger or a sojourner, that he may live with you.

Leviticus 25:39
The Law Concerning Slavery

“And if one of your brethren who dwells by you becomes poor, and sells himself to you, you shall not compel him to serve as a slave.

Deuteronomy 15:7-11

Generosity to the Poor

“If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs. Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you. You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’

Matthew 26:6-11

The Anointing at Bethany

And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? For this fragrant oil might have been sold for much and given to the poor.”

But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me. For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always. He sat at the table.

This is a mere microcosm of what God’s thoughts and views regarding the poor. The poor, needy and vulnerable are special in the sight of God Himself, yet we – even in the “Body of Christ” in general possess an overall condescending attitude towards them. Our service and ministry to the poor seems to stem from a superficial place of varying degrees of obligation  rather than  a sincere place of agape love. And yet we wonder why this nation is in need of so much healing? Is it any wonder why God is sending missionaries to  US – from the same countries that we used to send missionaries to?

Let’s continue to pray for and with each other on behalf of this nation.

2 Chronicles 7:14-15

if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.

On Religion and Slavery

I was awakened by Lord and happened to stumbled on the following scriptures and then some. Hmmm…

Leviticus 25:39The Law Concerning Slavery
“And if one of your brethren who dwells by you becomes poor, and sells himself to you, you shall not compel him to serve as a slave.

And yet , we did not come to them THEY CAME TO US ,  they did not compel us to slavery- they captured us.

Nehemiah 5:5

Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children; and indeed we are forcing our sons and our daughters to be slaves, and some of our daughters have been brought into slavery. It is not in our power to redeem them, for other men have our lands and vineyards.”

Leviticus 26:13
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves;

I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright.

I watched a video the other week in which Apostle Price made a really good case regarding how special, remarkable people we are because of and despite the obstacles and the oppression that we have to endure and to overcome. Despite the fact that following the signing of The Emancipation Proclamation with the promise of 40 acres and a mule. Despite the fact that that promise was taken away after the assignation of Lincoln. Look how far we’ve come, we started out with nothing and look at us now and what we have been able to accomplish this far!

It’s because of the greatness of God’s power that lies within!

Ephesians 1:19-21

and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

The same power that got us thus far is the same power that stills lies within each of us; and the same greatness of His power that will continue to lead us!
