Not the time for ignorance within the camp

I was listening to a podcast in which a FB post by a well known singer was mentioned regarding Christians and depression. I have not seen the actual post ( was probably taken down after some backlash) ; however the podcast alluded to the statement made by this well known artist as saying to the effect that ” a person stays depressed for several years because they do not know who they are or whose they are”.  This comment has been resonating and leaving an awful taste within my spirit for the past few days.

This is not the time for ignorance, especially amongst those that call themselves servants of the Most High God….
Please, please, please know the difference between long suffering and depression. Knowledge is power; therefore either get it or have a seat – ” my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” ( Hosea 4:6).

  • Long suffering – an actual fruit of the spirit( Gal5:22); time period and degrees of long suffering varies from one individual to another based on God’s preordained plan for an individual servant ( Jer 29:11, Ps 139:16).
  • Depression – on the other hand is a mood disorder; in some cases ( bipolar/ ( manic depression) a chemical imbalance can be a factor and/or life events can also play a factor(s). Similarly as w/ long suffering, the time frame and the levels of depression varies from one individual to another.

This lack of real knowledge ( of God) is a prime example that touches the core of the problems that are challenging the Body of Christ. Lack of knowledge of the things pertaining to godliness due to the lack of truly establishing a real relationship w/God, spending time in His Presence and in His Word. A lot of people professing to be believers and followers of Christ are also the one that the Apostle Paul describes as ” having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof”. He then goes on to instructing us to ” Mark them and then turn away from them”. (2Tim3:5).

I also believe this falls into category regarding the wickedness that God wants us to turn away from ( 2Chr7:14-15) before He will heal our land.

  1. Long Suffering-
  2. Depression-
