We have all heard that God is Love … however, how does the deity of that Love express itself regarding us?
God is the only judge…yet I see us as believers and non- believers alike wanting to step in to judge others especially as it pertains to homosexuals.
It’s complicated when you try to put it into perspective…
On homosexuality… it pains me to a great deal lately when I think about the hateful words and acts done towards homosexuals and/ or the LGBTQ Community as a whole ( Lord knows that I’ve been guilty, just one of the many things that God is dealing with me about). I have loved ones and friends of loved ones within the LGBTQ Community and it is really starting to hurt my heart more and more when I reflect on the pain that they may have experienced from ” church folks in particular” and society in general. My most sincerest prayer to God has been for me to be vessel for God to love through, and yet I find myself guilty of being very critical at numerous times to the LGBTQ Community in particular. My sincere apologies to anyone that I might offended in the past. Please be patient with me- He will always be working on me as long as I’m on this side of Jordan- sincerely trying to understand-
I’ve said for the longest and still affirm that God really does hate the sin but loves the sinner , especially as it pertains to the LGBTQ Community,
Based on my reflection on this scripture over the years, I’ve come to realize now more than ever before that we can never truly know what is in a person’s heart – especially what’s at the core.
We are all aware that for the most part people have two faces – the one that is shown to the world in general ( masked) and the face we have when we think no one’s looking and we’re alone with our innermost thoughts and God.
Psychologists place these two different faces into two distinct components of our personalities – the primary personality and our shadow personality. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/evil-deeds/201204/essential-secrets-psychotherapy-what-is-the-shadow
The movie “It’s Complicated” which starred Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1230414/) touched lightly on this inner wrestling that we all experience to some to varying degrees.
I firmly believe that the shadow personality is more indicative of our real selves, (our inner – beings)- our heart. And this is the component of our total personality that God especially responds to. It’s the nonverbal prayers, pleas, cries that come from the very depths of our beings that causes Him to become more attentive and lean in more. However, we as “mere humans” cannot see this component with our naked eyes – only God can.
One thing that I find ironic regarding this whole thing regarding bashing homosexuals is that there seems to be a segment of the LGBTQ Community that sincerely wants to please God by expressing their love for one another in a committed relationship i.e. marriage- and yet I see that the majority of their critics, accusers, bashers are the ones who are not in a committed relationship such as marriage- that they commit sins that fall under the umbrella of sexual immorality such as fornication, and adultery- yet they think that they can justifiably judge someone else- hmmm!
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Some of us view pornography, lie, steal , are corrupt, greedy and so on. All of these are outward offenses that we can pick up in the physical realm, however at the end of the day… when it’s just us and God,
only God can discern and interpret our inner wrestlings.
Like I said – it’s complicated- but not really… simple choose to Love regardless–
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” 😘🙏🏾🇱🇷
