Division Can Be A Good Thing

The constant thread that was echoed throughout both sects of media ( news media and social media) yesterday was the outcry over the divisiveness that has become embedded within our nation and as a result there is now an outcry for civility.

However…

division can be a good thing if and when it’s done with the right motive.

Matthew 10:34 Christ Brings Division

“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.In the above passage Jesus is clearly stating His stance on what and who takes priority in our lives. He was clearly doing a sifting of those who chose to follow Him and those who did not. He furthers admonishes us to pick up our cross and follow Him.

Anyone who has read His teachings via the words in written in red within the gospels, knows that Jesus during His time on earth was a righteous radical who fought on behalf of the oppressed everywhere and was therefore opposed by the pompous religious leaders of the day ( whom He rightly called a brood of hypocritical vipers on many occasions).

Yes, I said it- Jesus was and still is a righteous radical who is still fighting on the behalf of the oppressed.

Satan, the real enemy here in all of this chaos would have you to believe that the divisions are based on superficial matters such as the color of our skin, our sexual preference, our church attendance, our religious choices and so forth ; however, I strongly believe that that real issue- the central core of the divisions comes down to righteousness vs. unrighteousness; oppressed versus oppressors.

I have watched and admired Congresswoman Maxine Waters for most of my life. I initially became aware of her outstanding leadership during her tenure as the Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and have followed and admired her ever since, especially now. Her fight seems to become stronger and her voice for the voiceless becomes louder, as she ( ” with her low I. Q.”) continues to lead and teach the masses on proper parliamentary procedures ( the likes of which our esteemed President seems to be oblivious of), how to use our voice and reclaim our time!

The media has been playing her clip of encouraging people to push back against the Trump administration- which she has been doing since day one and rightly so. Although, I do not agree with the wording of that call to action, I can definitely relate to the sentiment, the passion and frustration behind it.

Watching and praying about the latest debacle that our esteemed President has gotten us into, and wanting to come up with a real viable resolution rather than just talking and reporting on it from various angles for ratings. I was seriously contemplating going over the President’s head by approaching the United Nations Human Rights Commission to intervene on behalf of the families who have been detained and separated at the border, only to find out that he has already pulled us out of the commission. Dang! The frustration and the sense of hopelessness and despair can become real! I get it!!!

On the other hand, CNN Daybreak anchor – Carol Costello interviewed Bishop T D Jakes of the Potter’s House ( many would consider him a religious leader of the day), said the right things and I initially agreed with the words that were coming out of mouth however later through and as a result of prayer began to question the real sentiment and motive. He was the epitome of civility that many are harking for.

However, my question is …does civility mean to lay down and roll over?

Does coming up with the right strategy mean “let’s think up a new way to do the same thing and come up with the same results”?

The contrast between what I saw in the Maxine Waters’s clips and the interview with Jakes is real as well. I saw the division, the line that was drawn between a person passionately speaking on the behalf of the oppressed and willing them to continue to push back at whatever the cost, not to give up, not to lose hope, continue to fight; versus Jakes who was speaking on behalf of the oppressors and wanting the masses to calm down and go home.

Matthew 12:34

Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

I have at times been called a trouble maker, God Himself in the spirit of Matthew 10 has quipped me as an agitator and I’m darn proud of it! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

I therefore stand with Congresswoman Maxine Waters and others who stand up and speak out for the voiceless , the oppressed people everywhere and will also continue to call out the hypocrites, who pimp the oppressed for their own agendas.

What Jesus continues to whisper in my ears, I and I hope others like Congresswoman Maxine Waters will continue to shout from the rooftops.

Matthew 10:27

Jesus Teaches the Fear of God

“Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops.

Yes, Congresswoman Waters, God is indeed on our side!

“For I, the Lord, love justice;

I hate robbery for burnt offering;

I will direct their work in truth,

And will make with them an everlasting covenant.

Matthew 10:34-39 Christ Brings Division“

Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to “set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
