On Independence Day…

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” Martin Luther King Jr.

Let me just cut to the chase.

I had a couple of inquiries within the past couple of days regarding Independence Day aka the Fourth of July Holiday from a couple of people in what I deem as a passive aggressive manner. Coincidence? I think not!💁🏾

So, just in case anyone really actually gives a hoot on where I stand regarding the holiday that just passed…

While there are people – especially POC- that are being detained in a systemic racial manner , under the “new Jim Crow laws”…(primarily the immigrant detainees who have been separated from their families and/ or those who are innocent and/ or have been prosecuted unjustly)

America – “Lady Liberty” does not represent freedom and nor equality to me.

I could not in all honesty and pure conviction celebrate such a ” holiday”.

Despite all that we are allowing to happen right now under this farce of an administration…

I still love America and I still believe that it is the best country on earth; and and I still pray God Bless America and I will continue to stand on the following verse …

Isaiah 61:8

“For I, the Lord, love justice;

I hate robbery and wrongdoing.

In my faithfulness I will reward my people

and make an everlasting covenant with them. 😘🙏🏾🇱🇷
