Celebrity Status? I think not—

As I reflect on the case , especially the outcome, I am recalling severally inferences that were made this morning on CNN’s New Day with Alisyn Camerota and John Berman that Mr. Smollett received the outcome that he did because of his celebrity status.

So as I am reflecting on this I keep having this one constant flashback of another situation that hits closer to home. I had a personal relationship with a fellow by the name of Micheal Lawrence Floyd in whom I cared deeply for at one point in my life. There were times recently where we tried to pick up and make something work between the two of us to no avail, primarily due to deception and infidelities.

I have often heard on several occasions ( of course in a passive / aggressive manner) that my ability to easily forgive the person who currently has my heart ( Common) of his several acts of indiscretion and not Michael is because of his (Common’s) celebrity status. I heard these same inferences in the most subtle yet clear way this morning as well via a couple of guests who were invited by CNN to speak on the Jussie Smollett case.

I would like to take a minute or two to clarify for those who may actually care. The Lord began providing insights into Mr. Floyd and his connections back in January of 2017; it was hard to accept at first however nevertheless facts don’t change whether I accept them or not.

On the other hand , the Lord began seriously dealing with me about Common around April , 2018. The two men are vastly different and the two situations are vastly different. Neither one of them are perfect; and I was sincerely willing to stand by Mr. Floyd’s side unconditionally and be there for him for the longest until the whole picture and scenario started becoming clear especially the deception.

One has a preordained lifetime clause attached to it and the other was only meant to be temporary. One and only one has been willing to consistently provide protection for me when no one else would. Celebrity status has nothing to do with it – only the center of God’s will.

Scriptural Reference

Philippians 3:12-13

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,

Isaiah 43:18-19

“Forget the former things;

do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing!

Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness

and streams in the wasteland.
